What is Meseon?
Meseon is the best place to enjoy art, or publish your own artwork.
If you like art, in Meseon you will find many artists, artworks, exhibitions, galleries, museums, etc, for you to enjoy exploring the marvelous world of art. If you are an artist, Meseon is a great place for you to show your artwork and be known.
Allow the community to enjoy your work. Receive opinions from the community users. Contact other artists, explore other trends.

Is Meseon free?
Meseon is free. Creating an Account will only take you a moment.
By signing up in Meseon you will be able to publish your artwork, give your opinion, rate, contact other artists, publish news, etc.
If you wish to make professional use of Meseon, we offer advanced accounts for artists, galleries and museums.

What are the rules for using Meseon?
Read the Community Rules to know all that is needed in order to be a good user in the Meseon community.

Can I use an artwork image from Meseon?
Meseon is not the owner nor responsible for user's images. We recommend you to get in touch with the artist or image owner. You can do this by sending a private email. Only registered users can send private messages to artists. Sign up in Meseon.
You can also check the content licenses you are interested in. Most of the contents in Meseon are licensed as Creative Commons, so, in case you use them, you should reference the artist and Meseon url where you picked the content from.

In what languages is Meseon available?
Currently Meseon is available in English and Spanish. We would like to have Meseon in many languages. We are working to translate Meseon into as many languages as possible. If you think that you can help us translate Meseon to your language, send a message through the contact form

I'm an artist. What can Meseon do for me?
In Meseon we can help you to:

• Exhibit your artwork

How many works can I publish for free?
The number of artworks that you can publish is unlimited. The only limitation is the storage capacity in Meseon servers.

Can I pay for more storage?
Yes. Users who opened Professional Accounts (PRO) can use extra storage for artwork in Meseon servers.

How many exhibitions can I publish for free?
As many as you wish.

What are the advantages of opening a PRO account?
The main advantages are:

• Extra storage space
• Reduced Commission on Sales
• Additional exhibition flavors
• Additional exhibition styles

Can I sell my artwork in Meseon?
We think that Meseon is the perfect place for selling your artwork. You can read more information about this on Sales Information section.

The kind of art that I make does not appear in Meseon. What can I do?
We are completely open to new art trends and new expressive ways of creating art. It is for this reason that we really value artists' recommendations and suggestions. If you think that your form of art expression is not included in Meseon, or that we can improve any aspect, please let us know. We will work to make it possible.

Artwork Published

What is the maximum number of artworks that I can publish?
The number of artworks that can be published is unlimited. The only restriction is the storage capacity in Meseon servers.

How much storage can I use?
For now, the maximum storage is 100MB for conventional accounts, and 200MB for Professional accounts.In order to support a greater number of contents, Meseon converts the images to suitable size and quality for web environments. It allows us to reduce starage space, allowing you to store more items on the servers, and reducing downloading time.

Is the file size of works limited?
The maximum size for artwork images is 5MB.

What files formats are supported?
The image format supported are JPG, GIF and PNG.
The audio format supported is MP3.

Can I keep my artwork private?
Of course. You can keep your artwork private. If you do so, the artwork is not accessible by search engineand users do not have access to it. This can be useful while you are working on the contents and tags before showing your artwork. But remember to make it accessible for people when it is ready, so that the community enjoys your work.

Can I restrict access to my artwork?
Yes. You can restrict access so that only your friends can view your artwork before you allow public to view it. In that case, only the users in Your Friends group can view your artwork.

What information can I attach to my artwork?
You can attach the following information:

• Title
• Author or Authors
• Date
• Medium
• Dimensions
• License
• Tags
• Description in various languages

Can I associate tags to my work?
Of course. You can apply tags to your works. Tags help people find contents.

What kind of license can I associate to my public artwork?
You can find all information you need in the Contents Licenses section.
If you have a work, and you want people to know it, we recommend you to use Creative Commons Licenses. Less restrictive Creative Commons force those who use your artwork to at least reference you as the author, thereby collaborating to your promotion.

Why is important to publish images with a good quality?
Because give us the possibility of build new ways of exhibit your work with the best quality, and allow to users to enjoy better your artwork. We want to explore news ways that allow that you can exhibit and promote your work.

Exhibitions

For What are useful the Virtual Exhibitions?
The Virtual Exhibitions allow the artist or the exhibitior expose the artwork by a more rich and expressive way for the user. The virtual exhibitions allow to build and tell a story, taking the visitor step by step, describing each artwork in context from the beginning to the outcome. The virtual exhibitions are perfect for build retrospectives, group works by themes, or build a global message through the composition of their works.

How many contents can I add to an exhibition?
You may add to the exhibition as many works as you wish.

Can I add sound to an exhibition?
Yes. Adding sound or a narrations to an exhibition could be an interesting way to get your creation across. For now, the only supported audio format is MP3 .
Remember that you must respect the contents Legal Rights. If you do not know where to find audio materials, in Jamendo you'll find plenty of great artists, a lot of music albums audio files with a Creative Commons license.

May my art exhibitions be private?
Of course. Your art exhibitions may be private, and therefore they will not be accessible for search engines, nor for the community. This could be useful while you work on an exhibition's contents, information, tags, etc. Remember to make it accessible when it is ready. The Community wants to enjoy your artwork.

Can I make my exhibitions only visible to my friends?
Yes. You can make it so that only your friends have access to your exhibitionsThe friends allowed to view your exhibition are those who you can view in Your Friends section.

Can I change my exhibition's flavor?
Yes. From Your Exhibitions place, you can modify your exhibition flavor and style.

Give your opinion

Who makes comments?
Whoever is signed up as a user is allowed to make comments. Giving your opinion is the way to contribute to the Meseon community.

Can I send comments to an artist?
Yes

Can I attach comments to a particular work?
Of course

Can I attach comments to an exhibition?
Of course you can

Can I attach comments to a gallery?

Can I rate an exhibition?

What can I do if I do not like a rating about my work?
Although we are always monitoring incoming feedback, you might not always like what you read.
We do not believe in eliminating comments, unless these comments are somehow offensive. In such case, send an email to us using the report abuse form

Can I recommend an exhibition to a friend?
Yes, you can. In the exhibition section you have a link for recommending any exhibition to your friends.

How can I contact other users?
The best way is to send a private message. You can see the option to send a private message in the user reception page

Friends

Who can I add to my friends?
You can add to friends any other Meseon community user. Remember that when you add a user as a friend, this invitation needs be accepted by the user.

What happens when I click on the add a friend link?
The user you are trying to add as a friend receives your invitation with your comments. This user can accept or decline your invitation. If they accept your invitation, your new friend will appear in the Your Friends section

I have added a user to my friends, but it does not appear in the Your Friends section. What can I do?
Probably the user has declined your invitation. Send a private message to check if you are not sure.

Where can I check othe users' invitations?
In your invitation page Invitations in Your Friends section

News

Who is allowed to publish news?
Any registered user of Meseon is allowed to publish news

Can my news be private or restricted?
Yes. As with your works, you choose who has access to your news.

Where can I view the news that I publish?
Your news appear in the news section of your public user page. News, if voted upon by the community, they will also appear in Home News or in Meseon Home

What news items will be published in the homepage?
The news items appearing in home are some of the most rated news together with the latest news.

What news items will be published in the news homepage?
As in the site homepage, news in initial news home will be some of the most rated news together with the latest news

Can I associate tags to news?
No for now, but we are working on it.

What is the news vote for?
Voting for a news item indicates your interest in a topic. Users like to have their news rated positively by the community. If you are interested in a topic, and you would like to receive more information on it, we recommend you vote for your favorite news items. This way you will encourage users to write about it.

I can't vote for a news item. What happened?
Only registered users can vote for news items. If you already signed in, remember that you can't vote for a particular news item more than once a day.

Karma

What is the Karma?
The users karma is a reference that primarily represents your actions in Meseon network. Karma is structured on the following scale "Terrible, Bad, Neutral, Positive, Good, and Excellent.". The karma go up and down when you establish relations with other Meseon users.
If you receive votes to your news or add a favorite, your karma will rise. Consequently, if you rate your own user profile or artwork, your karma will fall.
Karma is the sum of your activity on Meseon.

For what is useful?
Karma is used to stop aggressive behavoiurs of risky users, and to assign a bonus points to users who have contributed positively to Meseon community.
The karma prevents of users who massively rate with minimum points to other users and artwork, and rate their artwork to maximum, to rise their position in a hipotetical competition.

How karma go up?
Presently, the easiest (and most effective) way to gain karma is by making good things in Meseon community. Receive votes to your news, add favorites, add friends, etc.

How karma go down?
The fast way to karma fall is rate your own profile or artwork, rate to minimum lot of other users work and this kind of things. Users who lost lot of karma will not be allowed to rate and make some actions for a while.

How is karma calculated?
The karma is reculculated every day in function of your actions on Meseon in last days. When anybody lose a lot of karma, lose the possibility of rate and add favorites, and must wait some days to recover some of karma.

Feeds

What is a Feed?
Feeds are a great way to be in touch with others. Nowadays there is a lot of information on the internet, and spotting the information that you want is sometimes complicated. With feeds you can automatically receive the latest news updated according to your information needs. And then, you will not have to spend time searching information on the internet.

What are the benefits of feeds?
With feeds you don't need to provide your email or other information, but only add the feed address in your feeds reader. With feeds you can cancel a particular site subscription without informing anybody.

What are the Meseon Feeds?
In Meseon you have different feeds available about news and art, in different languages. Check it at Meseon feeds section.

What software can I use?
There are Web based feed readers or Client Software readers. You can find a lot of different readers in the wikipedia feeds aggregator section

Meseon Integrations

What is Picasa?
Picasa is a Google web service that allows the storage and publication of your images.
In Picasa you can upload your images, and share them with your friends, family, or with the community.
Picasa is a great space for publishing images, but it is not thought for artists. Meseon has been desinged for artists who want to exhibit and promote their work.
We know that it is boring to upload your images to each single web services like Picasa, Flickr or Meseon. Therefore, at Meseon you can import directly your Picasa contents to your account. The good news is that you do not need to upload contents again. Just click on the image that you wish to import, and you can start filling in artwork info, creating exhibitions, etc.
To start importing your contents from Picasa, configure your Picasa settings. Setup your Picasa account login, and start importing your Picasa contents.

What is Youtube?
Youtube is the best place to show your videos. Youtube is a Google service that allows the uploading of videos to share with your friends.
With the Meseon Youtube plug-in you can import your Youtube videos in one step. Forget about uploading heavy videos again. Import your Youtube videos directly, and use them to compose your Meseon exhibitions.
If you want to enable the Youtube plug-in, go to the Youtube configuration section in your profile page. Remember that you must be logged in.
Setup your Youtube user name, and you will be ready to import your videos.

What is Twitter?
Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?
With the Meseon Twitter plug-in it is easier to be connected with people who love your art. You can allow people who visit your space in Meseon to read your Twitter messages.
If you want to enable the Twitter plug-in, go to the Twitter configuration section in your profile page. Remember that you must be logged in.
Setup your Twitter login and password, and start writing your messages for the community.

Where can I send my Twitter messages from?
You can update your Twitter state from Your Messages section

What is Delicious?
Delicious is a cool internet service that allows you to tag, save, manage and share web pages from a centralized source. With emphasis on the power of the community, Delicious greatly improves how people discover, remember and share on the Internet.
If you have a Delicious account and enable the Meseon Delicious support, when you add a favourite in Meseon (an artwork, an artist, etc), this favourite will be stored in your Delicious account also.
Meseon and Delicious integration allows to you share and discover your art preferences.

Art Galleries Services

What can Meseon do for my art gallery?
In Meseon we can help you to:

• Expose your art collection on the internet
• Promote your art collection and yourself as an artist

How can I publish my artwork?
Although your gallery can appear on the Meseon site, only the Premium Galleries can use all the advantages of Meseon and the community. If Meseon is interesting to you, don't hesitate to contact us
