Since 1995 been active (both on an individual basis and with the Public Works art group, of which he was a founder member) in instigating and bringing to completion a series of public art projects, many involving large scale vitreous enamel art work, for which he has developed a speciality - the Loughborough Junction "We Love It Here" mural, installed in 2002 and measuring 7 by 8 metres, being the largest example of this genre in Britain. Others include: the Loughborough Estate Mural Project, which was "Highly Commended" in the Wapping Arts Trust's prestigious 1996 "Art and Work Award"; two National Lottery funded projects - the Westbury Estate Public Art Project, opened in 1998 by Alan Howarth MP, Minister for the Arts; and the Fern Lodge Public Art Project, opened in 2002 by Tessa Jowell MP, Secretary of State at the Department of Culture; A recent high profile project was the “B OUR GUEST” installation on the Railway Bridge in the centre of Brixton which was used for the launch of the Brixton Cultural and Creative Industries Showcase at the Mayor of London's headquarters in City Hall. www.jasongibilaro.com | |||||
